This Week: A Blog!
I wrote a few articles I didn’t plan to last week, due to the gameplay stream for Borderlands 3, and my weird nostalgia for the light that used to be inside the Apple logo on MacBooks.
The one article I neglected was about the interior cave lighting in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, so hopefully I can get to that this week.
Outside of that, the only thing for sure on the docket is an Essential Games piece about Dead Island.
I love many of Techland’s games, and I’m still sad that Hellraid was cancelled. Boy that game sure seemed finished when they binned it without warning.
Just so you know where I’m coming from. I’m a total fan of Techland’s funky style, and of their in-house Chrome Engine…which I guess is now called the C-Engine. Their games have a unique look to them, and they’ve done a great job of blending incredible photo-realistic materials and lighting with stylized art ever since the first Call of Juarez. The first game to ever implement DirectX 10! And a game that had completely overhauled level designs when it came to Xbox 360!
Techland had a good run of regular releases for a long while, and it’s a bit of a bummer to me that Dying Light 2 has been in the oven for so long. I’m sure it’ll turn out well, and I hope that it’ll come out sometime this year.
Next week I’ll hopefully finish Rage 2 and get a review out. I’m really excited for that one. I have no headsets or headphones in the reviews queue right now, for the first time in a long while.
