Waves NX Addendum: Atmos Troubles
Nary two days ago, I gave Waves NX, a 3D audio solution for PC/Mac users with a webcam and headphones, a very good review.
It's a $10 product that delivers exceptional virtual audio placement.
But now, I've discovered a problem: If you have it installed, it totally disables access to Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic in Windows 10.
I tried switching back to my standard sound card input. I tried stopping the NX service, and turning it off in the software. Still, it was no good. Windows Sonic couldn't figure out how to interface with my headphones while Waves NX was installed. Every time, it'd throw up an error message.
Normally, this wouldn't be a huge deal. I think NX provides exceptional spatial audio, and you can still listen in standard stereo.
But personally, I really love Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos, and I want to be able to access them whenever I want without any issue.
So, it seems I'll have to uninstall NX whenever I want to use them.
That's...kind of frustrating?
