My Current Daily Headphone, and Updates/Housekeeping

My content production has been slow for the last two weeks, because of a stupid thing.

In the middle of last week, a washing machine broke on the third floor of my apartment building and flooded all six apartments on my side of the unit. Mine was the least damaged…but it’s still meant that a lot of cleanup efforts and repairs have been going on.

Makes it a little hard to write about games, tech, and headphones!

Next week things should get back to normal, and I’ll be posting something here or on Medium at least a couple of times a week until the beginning of the new year.

Here’s some of the stuff I have planned:

*Turtle Beach Atlas Three Review - These are really good, for what they are. They have a fun mid-bass centric sound that reminds me of old gaming headsets but doesn’t suck like many of those did. If you see this on sale and you’re hesitating, it’s a pretty safe bet. The mic and isolation are better suited to a quiet indoor room.

*Dynasty Warriors 7 Definitive Edition Review - DW7 got a surprise new release on Steam, with some additional graphical tweaks and additions on top of its previous Asia-only PC release. It’s pretty good.

*Far Cry 5- I picked up all the DLC for this game on sale back on Black Friday, and with the announcement of New Dawn, I thought it would be a good time to revisit this game.

Lately, I find myself using the HyperX Cloud Mix as my daily headphone. I still think that it’s too expensive for what it offers, putting a wired gaming headset with a bluetooth mode into competition with a lot of great midrange Noise Cancelling headphones, but I also think that its comfort and sound quality are pretty great. It’s got enough isolation to make my local loud coffee shop bearable, and its warmth is good in these cold winter months.

It might be interesting some time to do a summer/winter headphone comparison, though the logistics of that would be problematic. I’m not a person who is bothered by having warm ears at all, so I’m also not the best judge of pad comfort as far as warmth goes. I’ve never had mine get so sweaty as to frustrate me, but maybe I’m just lucky.

If you still need some new content from me that isn’t this, I have some premium articles that went live recently over on Medium.
